Nuances drift on
The edges focus in
My brain snaps louder than rubber bands on dry skin
The line is there
Ever closer I come
Gaining ground ever more the beating of a drum
Pulsing my heart
Echoes through my head
A moment to capture memories 'til I'm dead
Finish is now
Just out of reach
But I don't win I don't even place
In all I do
All the try that I have
The weight of the earth crushing me in half
I've never know
Any victory large or small
But I still use all my souls wherewithal
Sadden and down
Depression repressed
I'll simply keep on trying my best

Aching strain in my veins
A tear of joy expressed I was part of the game

Desire

A distant cloud caught my eye
I twisted it into cotton
Took a small straw
Poked the cloud at both ends, q-tip
For I needed to clean my mind
Thinking the best place to start, me ears
Gently twisted my edges of thought
Let the cloud transmorph from its cotton state
Pervasive the flow of unfolding fluff
Invading the folds of grey matter
Shaping my thoughts that shape the sky
Returning to your face in the clouds
From on the hill I lie staring up
That drifting image of you keeps catching my eye

Retire

Don't tell 'em that we conspire
On that plan to retire
I can become what was discussed
To the truth of this I must
My friends are my foundation
The faith I have to tame a nation
The hopes and dreams created
From beveled edges of men sedated
Long forgot my own disdain
Reminded of by constant pain
